A few weeks ago, we spent three days in a row above 10 degrees (50F). It rained all of those days, but my feet were hot in my boots. I was thrilled at the idea of removing them and moving on to strappy flats. I suggested to the housemate that we turn the heat off. She pointed out that it is February. The heat is still set to winter.
We are now misty.
With bouts of sunshine.
Both are sure signs of March.
I think these are crocus. Are they I wonder? What are your sure signs of spring?
OH YOU WRITE SO WELL!!! LOVED IT.. ALTHOUGH I DONT KNOW THEY ARE CROCUS OR NOT:)))
ReplyDeleteKEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
They are definitely crocusses. We have some in our garden. My first moments of ridiculous optimism about Spring comes when I see my very first snowdrop of the year. I feel utterly happy when I see it...usually as I am clomping my way miserably around our garden, lamenting at how brown and ugly everything looks in the winter!!

They certainly look like crocusses! I love them. A sure sign that spring is not far behind! I wanted to visit you and thank you so much for visiting my blog. How long have you been in Bath? I was an English literature major in undergraduate school and always wanted to study abroad in England, which I never did. After graduate school in psychology, I went a different way in my career and have never had the opportunity to pursue my first love (sigh).
ReplyDeleteWe have had quite the winter this year! More snow than I have seen in the other five years combined that I've lived in southern middle Tennessee! I think I've had enough of snow for this year (although I do love it) and am ready for spring. We've had a few days of warmer weather, but I am certain that we've not seen the last of our winter. I can't wait to photograph our tulips, irises and forsythia!
Lovely to meet you. Hope you'll stop by and visit with me again!
All good wishes,
Paula

Yes!! Yes!! The same crocusses are out at the Little White House and they do mean SPRING! I tour my garden every afternoon after work to count how many crocus flowers I have... the more, the closest spring is!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my heavens! That first picture in the mist just took my breath away. How positively lovely! Stunning!
ReplyDeleteLove the color in this last picture. My signs of spring are days hot enough to go to the beach, the Daytona 500 (we live 2 towns away) and windows down in the car, music blasting!
